Karon Butterfly Condominium
Karon Butterfly: Between Two Beaches, in the Middle of Everything That Matters 🌴
Karon has always been Phuket’s sensible choice — not the isolated north, not the all-night circus of Patong. A proper three-and-a-half-kilometre beach with room to breathe, real restaurants, a Sunday night market at the temple, and quiet enough to sleep by midnight. Karon Butterfly sits on Patak Road, right where this balance lives: a shuttle or fifteen-minute walk to the sand, ten minutes by scooter to Kata, twenty to Patong when the mood calls for it. Three low-rise buildings, 166 apartments, completed in 2015 — human in scale, settled in character, without a trace of the glossy anonymity that comes with bigger complexes. The kind of place you arrive at and immediately stop worrying about logistics.
📍 Address & Getting Here
Address: 266 Patak Road, Karon, Muang, Phuket 83100
For your taxi driver:
คาร่อน บัตเตอร์ฟลาย 266 ถนนปฏัก กะรน เมือง ภูเก็ต 83100
From Phuket Airport: 40–45 minutes, approximately 800–1,000 Baht by taxi or Grab. Patong is 5 km north, Kata 4 km south, the Big Buddha 6 km east. With a scooter or rental car, the entire west coast opens up in under thirty minutes.
🌴 The Area: Karon Does the Work
Karon is the sort of place you don’t need to plan. The beach is wide and unhurried; the restaurants are real — Two Chefs for generous portions and an excellent wine list, Ciao for wood-fired pizza with sea views, EAT Bar & Grill when someone wants a proper steak. On Sunday evenings, Wat Karon temple fills with locals and the market that surrounds it offers everything from grilled corn to silk and amulets and freshly squeezed juice. Karon Viewpoint, a short ride up the hill, gives you three bays and the full Andaman horizon at sunset — one of the better free things to do on the island.
Kata is ten minutes south and adds a different energy: surf schools, smaller cafés, a slightly younger crowd. Patong is twenty minutes north for the nights when you want everything at once. And the Big Buddha watches over all of it from the ridge between the two coasts, reachable in fifteen minutes and worth it every time for the view alone.
From Karon Butterfly itself, the beach and the market are walkable. A scooter extends the range to Karon’s beachside massage strip, Kata’s beach clubs, and the seafood restaurants strung along the Rawai coast further south. It is a classic Phuket circuit, and the complex sits at the centre of it.
🏢 The Complex: Small Enough to Feel Like Home
Three three-storey buildings, 166 units — the scale is intentionally modest, and that choice pays off. There is no sense of a hotel corridor or a crowd at the lift. The complex has two pools: one in the garden for a quiet morning swim, and one on the rooftop with a panoramic view across the surrounding hills — the sort of place you end up with a drink at seven in the evening watching the sky change colour and deciding to stay another week. Spa, gym, bar, restaurant, 24-hour security, beach shuttle, car park — everything functions without fuss. Apartments are one and two bedrooms, with balconies, kitchenettes and air conditioning; the interiors are calm and neutral after ten years of proven comfort.
Karon Butterfly suits guests who want a lively neighbourhood with a real beach and actual restaurants — but without Patong’s volume; solid on-site facilities — without feeling like a hotel guest; and a rooftop pool — simply because that is a very good idea.
