When is the best season to visit Surin Beach

Surin Beach is located on the island of Phuket, washed by the warm waters of the Andaman Sea. The weather, waves, number of tourists and overall atmosphere of the place change at different times of the year. The high season from November to April offers calm seas, sunshine and clear skies, while the low season from May to October is characterised by more active waves and a secluded atmosphere. Knowing the characteristics of each season will help you choose the perfect time for your holiday.
Winter on Surin Beach (November – February)
This is the dry season and the peak of the high tourist season. From November to February, Phuket enjoys stable, clear weather: the rains go away, the sea becomes calm and transparent, and the air warms up to +30°C. Surin Beach is especially pleasant at this time:
- The water is azure, clear, and almost wave-free.
- The temperature is comfortable for relaxation.
- The winds are moderate, and it is almost always calm.
Sunrises and sunsets on the west coast during the winter months are a real spectacle. This is the perfect time for photo shoots, morning yoga, walks along the rocky edges of the beach and simply peaceful relaxation. The only caveat is that you need to book your accommodation in advance, as there are many people who want to visit.
Spring on Surin Beach (March–April)
The dry season continues in spring, but the air temperature begins to rise rapidly. April is particularly hot, with daytime temperatures reaching +35°C. However, the sea remains warm and calm, and there are fewer tourists than in January and February. Advantages of a spring holiday:
- Warm and very clean water.
- Less crowded beaches.
- Clear skies and minimal rainfall until the end of April.
Spring is an excellent choice for those who want peace and quiet but don’t want to sacrifice the weather. It is important to plan active walks and excursions for the morning or closer to sunset.
Summer on Surin Beach (May–August)
From May, Phuket enters the rainy season, which lasts all summer. At this time, the sea is often rough at Surin, with high waves, and lifeguards may raise red flags, meaning swimming is prohibited. Nevertheless, the rainy season has its own charm:
- A peaceful atmosphere: there are almost no tourists.
- Bright greenery and lush landscapes after the rains.
- Good prices for accommodation and rentals.
If you don’t mind watching storm waves, walking along an almost empty beach, and enjoy solitude, then summer in Surin is for you. But swimming is not always possible at this time of year.
Autumn on Surin Beach (September – October)
September is considered one of the rainiest months. The sea is often rough, with storms and strong waves being commonplace. At this time of year, Surin is mainly visited by surfers and travellers who are not dependent on beach weather. By the end of October, the climate begins to change: it rains less often, and the sea gradually calms down. By mid- or late October, Phuket enters its high season, and Surin becomes sunny and friendly again.
